Prosecution is organized and functions under the direction of the General Prosecutor as a centralized structure including the General Prosecutor Office, Council of Prosecution and prosecutions at the judiciary.
The hierarchy chain in the prosecution body is defined by the General Prosecutor, in accordance with provisions in the law on prosecution.
The General Prosecution office is composed of the cabinet, directories and sectors. The expertise services, which organization and functioning is defined upon order of the General Prosecutor, are also active at the General Prosecution Office.

The Council of the Prosecution organizes the competition on the candidates for prosecutor and of those being promoted, assesses the work, as well as issues an opinion on disciplinary violations carried out by prosecutors, while the General Prosecutor proposes to the President of Republic the discharge from office. The Council of the Prosecution has an advisory role and in any case presents its opinion to the General Prosecutor. The Council of the Prosecution is composed of seven members: a representative of the President, a representative of the Minister of Justice as well as five prosecutors.

Prosecutors at the judiciary system are divided in:

• Prosecutors attached to the Supreme Court, which function is covered by the prosecutors of the General Prosecutor Office. Prosecutors at the Supreme Court exert the criminal prosecution, as well as represent the accusation in court against the President of Republic, Prime Minister and members of the Council of Ministers, deputies, judges of the Constitutional Court and judges of the Supreme Court.

• Prosecutors attached to the Courts of Appeal, who exert the prosecution functions at any Court of Appeal. Their jurisdiction is extended to the whole territory, coinciding with the jurisdiction of the respective court.

• Prosecutors attached to the First Instance Courts, who exert functions of prosecution at any first instance court. Their jurisdiction coincides with the one of the respective court.

The prosecution exerts criminal prosecution and represents the accusation in court on behalf of the state. The aim of our work is to bring in front of justice as many criminals as possible.
