Cannabis Cultivated in a Shed: Five Individuals Apprehended at the Request of Berat Prosecution Office for “Production and Sale of Narcotics” and “Cultivation of Narcotic Plants.”

Berat Prosecution Office, in cooperation with Skrapar Police Station, has apprehended V.B., D.B., Gj.M., E.M., and F.M. in flagrante delicto. They are under investigation for the criminal offense of 'Production and Sale of Narcotics,' as stipulated in Articles 283/3 and 284/2 of the Penal Code.

On October 15, 2024, this prosecutor's office, based on materials submitted by the Local Police Station of Berat, filed criminal proceeding no. 616 concerning the offenses of “Production and Sale of Narcotics” and “Cultivation of Narcotic Plants.” An examination of the crime scene revealed 37 suspected cannabis sativa plants, and E.M. was caught in flagrante delicto in a shed.

During the examination of the crime scene and the shed belonging to the individual Gj.M., there were discovered and seized two other bags containing harvested plants for the drying process, along with branches suspected to be 'cannabis sativa'.

Based on the ongoing investigations and considering the social danger posed by the criminal offense, the necessity for security measures, the severity of the penalty, the significance of the case, and the risk of the arrested individuals, the conditions for imposing coercive personal security measures are met. Specifically, this includes "Remand in Custody" as stipulated in Article 238 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
