Father Arrested and Son Declared Wanted for 'Income Concealment' and “Fraud with Food Products” in Olive Oil Scam

Berat Prosecutor's Office, in cooperation with the Economic Crime Investigation Unit of the Berat Local Police Directorate, has arrested 56-year-old A.A. on charges of 'Concealment of Income' and 'Fraud with Food Products', committed in complicity more than once, as stipulated in Articles 180 and 288/c of the Criminal Code. At the same time, the son, 28-year-old D.A., has been declared wanted.  
The prosecution, in cooperation with the police, has substantiated that the father and son converted their home into a facility, where they mixed various oils with unidentified substances, subsequently selling the concoctions as organic olive oil through social media platforms.
During the initial investigative actions, authorities seized approximately 3,000 liters of unclassified oil, 1,000 liters of suspected peanut oil, a laptop, and a printer used to print fake product labels, along with 2,900,000 Lek and 1,800€ believed to be proceeds from their illicit activities.
