Man Kills Son After Trivial Conflict, Tirana Prosecution Brings H.Gj. to Trial for 'Murder Because of Family Relations’

Tirana Prosecution Office has completed its investigations and sent citizen H.Gj. to trial for 'Murder Because of Family Relations,' as provided for in Article 79/c of the Criminal Code.

At the investigation’s conclusion into criminal case no. 796 of 2025, authorities determined that on February 1, 2025, citizen H.Gj. argued with his son A.Gj. over a trivial matter. During the confrontation, H.Gj. struck his son with a sharp object. The wound to A.Gj.'s left hip proved fatal, and he died from his injuries.

Citizen H.Gj., when questioned as the person under investigation, stated that on that day, while he sat down to eat, his son also sat down and started provoking him with words. H.Gj. felt uneasy and, at one point, became frustrated and slapped him in the face. According to him, his son A.Gj. took hold of him by the clothes and told not to hit him. At that moment, H.Gj.'s daughter intervened, asking why he was behaving this way with his father, who then pushed her forcefully, knocking her to the ground. Such an action enraged H.Gj., prompting him to grab the bread knife from the table and struck his son once in his hip.

The investigation, along with both external and internal examinations of the body, revealed a penetrating stab wound on the left side of the chest, with a tear in the left lung and a rupture of the heart's surrounding membrane at its left apex. Additionally, there were incised wounds on the fingers of both hands. The cause of death for citizen A.Gj. was determined to be severe traumatic hemorrhagic shock.

Based on these findings, citizen H.Gj., who is under investigation, has been charged with the crime of 'Murder Because of Family Relations,' as outlined in Article 79/c of the Criminal Code, to the detriment of his deceased son, A.Gj.
