Money offered in exchange for votes, the Vlorë Prosecutor's Office requests the arrest of two citizens for the criminal offence of ''Active corruption in elections''
The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Vlorë requested the arrest of citizens Dh. B., also known as A.B., 51-years-old and K.P., 44-years-old for the criminal offence of "Active corruption in elections, carried out in collaboration, provided by Article 328, 25 of the Criminal Code.
On 08.05.2023, the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Vlorë registered criminal proceedings no. 489, on the basis of the referral made by the Vlorë Local Police Directorate, for the criminal offence of "Active corruption in elections".
From the acts administered so far in the function of the investigation for this criminal proceeding, it results that the judicial police services at the Local Police Directorate of Vlorë have referred the information to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Vlorë, regarding some persons who are suspected to have been involved in the illegal activity of buying and selling votes, for the local elections of 14th May 2023, in the city of Himarë and in the villages that are part of this municipality, promising various citizens certain amounts in cash against voting for one of the competing candidates.
After the registration of the criminal proceedings, a prosecutor has been authorized to carry out a series of procedural actions in the field, through the use of special investigation methods, in order to ascertain the criminal fact for which this criminal proceeding was registered.
After carrying out a series of actions by the structures of the Local Directorate of the Vlorë Police, in cooperation with the Directorate of the Special Operational Force in the General Directorate of the State Police, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Vlorë, due to the facts of resulting during the investigation and the evidence collected in dynamics by using special investigation methods, the arrest of the above citizens, born and resident in Himarë, was carried out in flagrante delicto.
As material evidence, at the time of the arrest, a monetary amount of ALL 40,000 was seized.
