General Prosecutor, Mr. Adriatik Llalla, discussed in Rome with the Anti-Mafia Prosecutor, Mr. Franco Roberti and the Italian prosecutors on the joint investigation of the cross-border criminal groups
Prosecution Office of Albania and the National Anti-Mafia Directorate of Italy initiated the implementation in practice of the Cooperation Agreement, signed in Tirana in November 2014 between the two investigative structures.
In Rome, a high-level delegation of the Prosecution Office of Albania, led by the General Prosecutor, Mr. Adriatik Llalla discussed with the Italian Anti-Mafia Prosecutor, Mr. Franco Roberti, regarding specific issues of organized crime, as well as money laundering.
At the meeting participated leaders and prosecutors of the Italian district prosecutor’s offices, who are investigating specific issues on cross-border organized crime.
On the table were reviewed investigative cases that require immediate intervention of the authorities on both sides of the border. In this context, the Prosecution Office of Albania and the Italian Anti-Mafia Directorate decided the establishment of Joint Investigation Teams, the structures of which have a history of success in their activity among European Union countries.
Considering the importance of these ongoing investigations, the General Prosecutor, Mr. Llalla was personally in Italian capital, to coordinate the cooperation between the Prosecution Office for Serious Crimes and the National Anti-Mafia Directorate, as well as of some Italian District Prosecution Offices.
The two structures have started applying the "spontaneous exchange of information", a technique that enables the combination of real-time information, under the coordination of the central foreign relations offices. This technique was one of the most important achievements of the Memorandum of Cooperation last November, which enables communication and then hitting at once the criminal groups which operate on both sides of the border
