The meeting of the General Prosecutor with the Ambassador of the EU Delegation in Albania

The General Prosecutor of Albania, Mr. Adriatik Llalla and the Ambassador of the European Union Delegation in Albania, Ms. Romana Vlahutin, are discussing projects in terms of strengthening of investigative capacity and on the independence of the institution.

The General Prosecutor of Albania, Mr. Adriatik Llalla, considers EU candidate status for Albania, as a great responsibility for all institutions, including the institution he leads, to increase efficiency in the fight against corruption, organized crime and strengthening the rule of law in general.
This attitude was expressed by Mr. Llalla during a meeting he held with the Ambassador of the European Union Delegation in Albania, Mrs. Romana Vlahutin, Tuesday afternoon (November 18, 2014) at the premises of the General Prosecution Office.

The General Prosecutor expressed to the Brussels diplomat the official assessment on the role and contribution of the European Union Delegation in Albania for the ongoing assistance and financial support provided through the years towards the Prosecution Office of Albanian, which have maximally influenced on increasing of the institution’s performance.

In this regard, Mr. Llalla mentioned the projects "Support for the structures of the fight against money laundering and structures of financial crime investigation in Albania" IPA 2009; IPA Regional Project 2010 " Fight against organised crime and corruption: Strengthening the Prosecutors' Network” as an instrument of the European Union, within which there are developed a series of training courses for prosecutors and judicial police officers. Support and assistance provided by this project has had a positive impact on the work of the Prosecution Office.

Also, pursuant to the assistance of the European Union Delegation towards the Prosecution Office of Albanian, Mr. Llalla praised as an important priority the funding for the establishment and functioning of the Case Management System (Case Management), a project that is provided to be applied in early 2015 and digitalises investigative data processing. Under this system, the Prosecution Office of Albanian will generate real-time statistics; will be coordinated in real time with the State Police at the time of referral and further to other stages of the investigation, as well as to strengthen the internal control.

Focusing on concrete actions, Mr. Llalla said that "the Prosecution Office of Albanian has taken concrete steps to increase the effectiveness of the exercise of criminal prosecution and crime fighting. The European Commission's recommendations expressed in periodic progress reports have served as a guideline for the work of the Prosecution and are valued and treated as institutional activity priorities".
