“Theft through abuse of office" Tirana Prosecution Office seeks remand in custody for two employees of Tirana Water Supply and Sewerage Utility company and for two others duty to appear at the judicial police
Based on the material filed by the General Director of the "Water Supply and Sewerage Utility" S.A, the Prosecution Office at Tirana First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction registered the criminal case No. 5652 on September 13, 2023, for the criminal offense of "Theft through abuse of office" committed in complicity as provided for in Article 135 - 25 of the Criminal Code against the individuals S.Zh., R.L., E.L., and A.Xh.
The investigation was initiated following an audit conducted by the economic office of the company "Water Supply and Sewerage Utility" S.A. Tiranë, revealing that the citizen S.Zh., holding the position of Taxation Specialist within the Economic Directorate of this company and being tasked with preparing and submitting to the bank the payroll for the salaries of the company's employees, duplicated the names of citizens S.Zh., R.L., E.L., and A.Xh., who have been employees of this company for the period April 2018 - July 2023, thus causing a damage in the total amount of ALL 21,679,805.
Based on the request of the prosecution and the decision No. 3026, dated 23.12.2023, of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Tirana, the imposition of the security measure "Remand in custody” as provided for in Article 238 of the Criminal Procedure Code has been decided for the citizens S.Zh and E.L. Meanwhile, for the citizens R.L and A.Xh, the imposition of the security measure " Duty to appear at the judicial police" as provided for in Article 234 of the Criminal Procedure Code has been decided.
Regarding the aforesaid, the investigations continue under the direction of the Prosecution Office at Tirana First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction.
