The French government, support the Albanian Prosecution Office on anti-trafficking, corruption and money laundering

The French government expresses its willingness to continue to support the Albanian Prosecution Office in strengthening the institutional capacity to fight against corruption, organized crime and money laundering. This message was forwarded to the General Prosecutor, Mr. Adriatik Llalla, by the Ambassador of the Republic of France in Tirana, Mr. Bernard Fitoussi, during a meeting on Monday morning (dated 04.20.2015).

Mr. Llalla praised as very important the cooperation of the institution he runs with the judicial authorities of the countries of the European Union, including at the main place France, to further strengthen the fight against trafficking of various drugs and money laundering. Based on various official reports, in France operate various criminal groups in the field of trafficking and distribution of narcotics, in which participate also Albanian citizens who intend to launder money in Albania. For this reason, the General Prosecutor, Mr. Llalla, want to increase the level of cooperation and exchange of information in association with new cases of suppression of criminal groups.

The same opinion was expressed by the Ambassador Fitoussi, whose country is now directly involved in trainings and expertise in the field of money laundering of the Albanians prosecutors and judicial police officers.
The French Ambassador emphasized the great importance that the fight against corruption has in Albania's integration into the European Union, and expressed appreciation for the continued efforts of the Albanian Prosecution Office in this regard, encouraging further engagement.

Among other topics of discussion was also the need of the Justice Reform in Albania and the two interlocutors expressed the same attitude to further strengthen the independence of the institution of the Prosecution Office, as one of the main pillars of democracy.
